With the weather starting to get colder, it’s the perfect time to put on your best fall outfit, grab a hot chocolate, and cozy up with one of these great movies coming to theatres.

Check out all of the films you need to watch this November:

Armageddon Time
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Jeremy Strong, Anthony Hopkins
Director: James Gray
Release Date: November 4, 2022

After his ambitious sci-fi epic Ad Astra, director James Gray is returning to what he knows best – an intimate period drama. Armageddon Time follows a young Jewish family in the 1980s dealing with issues of race relations while in the pursuit of the American dream. Starring Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong as the parents to newcomer Banks Repeta, and with Anthony Hopkins as his wise grandfather, this all-star cast is bound to win your heart. Their story will likely hit home, as these are struggles many families are still facing today.

One Piece Film: Red
Starring: Colleen Clinkenbeard, Brandon Potter, Amanda Lee
Director: Gorô Taniguchi
Release Date: November 4, 2022

The popular manga One Piece has evolved into a successful film series, and this latest sequel is already breaking records in Japan. As of this writing, it’s currently the highest grossing film of 2022 in Japan, and the 9th highest grossing Japanese film of all time. In Red, the beloved singer Uta finally reveals her identity after concealing it for years – and Luffy exposes a personal secret, too. One Piece fans and newbies to the series alike will surely be in for a treat with Red.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
Starring: Letitia Wright, Angela Bassett, Lupita Nyong’o,
Director: Ryan Coogler
Release Date: November 11, 2022

Black Panther is a superhero film that featured Chadwick Boseman in a breakout performance and catapulted him to international stardom. But after Boseman’s tragic death in 2020, the franchise pivoted to feature a new Black Panther hero instead of recasting Boseman. "Ryan wrote something that so honoured the truth of what every one of us was feeling, those of us who knew Chadwick," Lupita Nyong’o, who plays Nakia, told The Hollywood Reporter. "He created something that could honour that and carry the story forward. By the end, I was weeping." We expect to feel the same but are looking forward to see how this epic franchise carries on.

She Said
Starring: Carey Mulligan, Zoe Kazan, Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher Director: Maria Schrader
Release Date: November 18, 2022

We knew it wouldn’t be long before Hollywood’s biggest scandal and the origins of the #MeToo movement got the big screen treatment. She Said tells the true story of The New York Times journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey who broke the allegations of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assaults against women in the entertainment industry. It’ll be interesting to see this retelling of a story that so greatly impacted not just the film industry, but the world.

The Menu
Starring: Anya Taylor Joy, Ralph Fiennes, Nicholas Hoult, Hong Chau Director: Mark Mylod
Release Date: November 18, 2022

We’ll have everything on this menu. A black comedy/thriller taking down the fine dining world, The Menu looks like a hilarious satire. We know it’ll be especially scathing since so much of the team behind this film work on HBO’s Succession, including director Mark Mylod, writer Will Tracy, and producers Will Ferrell and Adam McKay. The film stars Anya Taylor Joy and Nicholas Hoult as a young couple who travel to a trendy restaurant with a conceptual menu that isn’t just food, it’s art. With Ralph Fiennes as the eccentric chef whose got a few tricks up his sleeve, The Menu is bound to be a delicious rollercoaster ride.

Strange World
Starring: Jake Gyllenhaal, Gabrielle Union, Lucy Liu, Dennis Quaid
Directors: Don Hall, Qui Nguyen
Release Date: November 25, 2022

Disney’s latest animated film focuses on a family with three generations of explorers who like most families, have their share of differences. But in this case, these differences could jeopardize an important mission. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal as the voice of Searcher Clade, the film also features Dennis Quaid as patriarch and grand explorer Jaeger Clade, who went missing years earlier. Filmmakers Don Hall and Qui Nguyen told Cineplex the film was influenced by their own experiences as parents and wanting to leave a better world for their kids. The heartwarming film is a perfect excuse to get your own family together and see if your clan would fare any better on this epic adventure. At the very least it’s an excuse to share some popcorn.

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery
Starring: Daniel Craig, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista, Janelle Monáe Director: Rian Johnson
Release Date: November 23, 2022

Daniel Craig returns as detective Benoit Blanc in the much-anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Knives Out with a sequel promising to have just as many twists and turns (and laughs). With a stacked supporting cast (featuring everyone from Edward Norton and Janelle Monáe to Hugh Grant and Ethan Hawke), Glass Onion features an all-new murder mystery amongst a group of friends who gather for a getaway on a private Greek island. The film is already a hit amongst audiences (scoring third in the much-coveted TIFF 2022 People’s Choice Award ranks) and we can’t wait to see for ourselves what all the buzz is about. This one is only in theatres for a limited time so make sure you catch it on the big screen before it’s gone!

Devotion
Starring: Glen Powell, Jonathan Majors, Serinda Swan, Joe Jonas
Director: J.D. Dillard
Release Date: November 23, 2022

Devotion is the powerful true story about the U.S. Navy’s first Black fighter pilot Jesse Brown (Jonathan Majors) and his wingman Tom Hudner (Glen Powell) who risk their lives while serving in the Korean War. Brown told Cineplex during TIFF that the two characters weren’t just friends, but soulmates, making their journey even more compelling. With dramatic aerial shots and compelling action sequences, this film must be experienced on the biggest screen possible. If you need another reason to see it, the film also features Joe Jonas in his first dramatic role.

Bones and All
Starring: Timothee Chalamet, Taylor Russell, Mark Rylance
Director: Luca Guadagnino
Release Date: November 23, 2022

This is not your typical love story. Luca Guadagnino’s follow-up to his Suspiria remake is this twisted, gory romance. The film is drawing comparisons to Terrence Malick’s Badlands, but if cannibalism was thrown into the mix. Here we follow the first love between Maren, a young woman living on the margins of society, and Lee, a drifter, as the two of them embark on a road trip during Ronald Reagan’s America. This horror romance is sure to defy genre, and we’re betting that love might defy the obstacles that these two face.

The Fabelmans
Starring: Gabriel Labelle, Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen Director: Steven Spielberg
Release Date: November 23, 2022

Steven Spielberg’s semiautobiographical film about his childhood and how he fell in love with the movies has already won over audiences. It won the People’s Choice Award at TIFF, and is being hailed as one of the prolific filmmaker’s best movies. Starring Canadian newcomer Gabriel LaBelle as a young Steven Spielberg (who in the film is named Sammy Fabelman), we follow Sammy from childhood into his teen years as his passion for film clashes with his family drama and personal growing pains. It’s chalk full of Spielberg references and cameos, and it’s the kind of movie that might just make you want to be a filmmaker too.
