By Ethan Dayton on Wed Jan 31 2024

While February is traditionally known for a lot of Valentine’s Day fare, this month has a wide range of movies coming out that are sure to satisfy fans of every genre.

Kicking off the month is Matthew Vaughns latest creation, Argylle. Like his beloved Kingsman franchise, this action comedy has a killer cast, edge-of-your-seat fight sequences, and Dua Lipa. Need we say more? Looking further into the future, the much anticipated Marvel/Sony film Madame Web, an origin story for the psychic Spider-Man adjacent hero, swings on to the big screen this Valentines Day. Bob Marley: One Love is also coming to theatres that weekend, a long overdue musical biopic about one of the most iconic singers whose powerful music is still cherished today.

Don’t worry, Love Birds. Theres still plenty of romance in store for those wanting all the laughter and feels to make your heart soar. It may not be typical, but it will be your most memorable Valentines Day movie pick. Lisa Frankenstein is a horror comedy about a girl who falls in love with a corpse from the 1800s after bringing him back to life.

These are just some of the latest movies coming to Cineplex this February. Keep reading and start making your February watchlist now!

Argylle

Starring: Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, John Cena, Henry Cavill, Catherine OHara, Bryan Cranston, Ariana DeBose, Samuel L. Jackson, Dua Lipa

Director: Matthew Vaughn

Release Date:  February 2nd, 2024

Before you ask, no. Despite rumours, Taylor Swift is not Elly Conway, the pseudonym for the writer of Argylles source material. While the recently released novel is a traditional spy story solely focused on suave Agent Argylle, Director Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) centres the film on the writer and thrusts her into a thriller of her own making.

Elly Conway (Bryce Dallas Howard) is a shut-in who is stuck experiencing life through the characters she writes about until Aiden (Sam Rockwell) saves her from an attempted kidnapping. Now on the run with Aiden and her cat, Elly enters a deadly world of espionage, uncannily similar to the one from her novels. Along with Howard and Rockwell, the star-studded cast includes Samuel L. Jackson, Henry Cavill, Catherine O
Hara, Bryan Cranston, and even pop sensation Dua Lipa. Argylle is easily one of Februarys hottest releases and a must-see!

Fitting In

Starring: Maddie Ziegler, Emily Hampshire, DPharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Djouliet Amara

Director: Molly McGlynn

Release Date: February 2nd, 2024

Shocked by her diagnosis, Lindy and her loved ones struggle to come to terms with this new reality.

Those who saw the film during its festival run, where it won Best Canadian Film at the 2023 Vancouver International Film Festival, commended its often unexplored subject matter and praised Zie
glers captivating performance. From Dance Moms to co-starring with Jenna Ortega in the harrowing film The Fallout and now Fitting In, Zeigler has more than proven herself to be a star on the rise.

Lisa Frankenstein

February isnt complete without a love story and first-time feature director Zelda Williams, daughter of Robin Williams, along with Oscar®-winning writer Diablo Cody (Juno) are bringing audiences one with a twist! If Bonnie & Clyde, Death Becomes Her, and Beetlejuice were to have a baby, they would deliver one called Lisa Frankenstein.

Kathryn Newton and Cole Sprouse star in this nostalgic horror comedy set in 1989, where misfit teenager Lisa Swallows (Newton) is determined to be with the love of her life. The only problem is he (Sprouse) just so happens to be a corpse rotting since the Victorian era, but that won

In this movie, Dakota Johnson plays a younger version of the character, a New York City paramedic who develops her signature abilities after a job-related accident. Following her cryptic glimpses into the future, Cassandra sets out to find three destined young women to help her stop a deadly foe connected to her past. Among the live-action debut of Madame Web, the film also marks the debut of several other fan-favourite characters, including Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, played by Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney.
